So I just finished my 2nd week at the gym. The first week was meant to re-introduce me into the movements of the different exercises and getting my body back into the groove of things, so to speak. This week, I did a regular 3 day split with back and triceps on day 1, legs on day 2 with some shoulder work and chest and biceps on day 3. The reason the leg day was put in the middle, was because I absolutely hate working out legs. Although I absolutely hate it, I recognize how important it is for an overall physique but more so that training legs tend to involve the whole body when you’re doing compound training like squats. Supporting that barbell via your traps, spreading your legs at shoulder width and supporting yourself with your legs and your abdomen (stabilizer muscles); creates the best overall body workout one can do.

Florida International University Bridge Collapse
Update (15/03/18): 6 confirmed dead
Florida International University (FIU) is my alma mater, and to hear of the bridge that they boasted about putting up in a few hours, a few days ago, collapsed and injured many and possibly killed more, has me heartbroken. I remember just glancing at that article, and thinking that they must feel so proud of themselves to do something so grand. Then to hear today from my mother that the bridge collapsed, is just surreal. I have traveled this same road so many times; going to school and leaving.
I just keep thinking of those poor people who were just going along their day, doing as we all do, and now their lives have changed completely. I keep thinking of how no one who was involved in the negligence of this tragedy, lost anyone due to their negligence. I hate thinking how the decisions of many, have caused such a devastating act to occur.

10 Minute HIIT – Day 1
I just got done doing my 10 minute HIIT session that I found on Youtube. I wanted something that allowed me to burn the most amount of energy, in the least amount of time so that I could find the time to actually do it. To be frank, I was actually very afraid to do this HIIT session because it requires a lot of endurance and it generally is a whole body workout when you’re done with it. Being as it may, it is the best HIIT session I have ever done because I can really admit, that it seriously kicked my ass. I know it’s mainly because I am very unfit right now, but I know that it can really get me back into shape, and help me lose as much fat as fast as possible.
I am going to admit that I did feel like throwing up not too far down into the workout and actually couldn’t go more than the 8th workout. I seriously started feeling like gagging, my head started to hurt and it just felt like I was going to kilt over and die lol. So that’s how unfit I am, and it is very shameful for me to admit that, but it is the truth.

Started the gym today – Week 1 – Becoming me again
So today I finally got to the gym. To be honest, I was suppose to head out to the gym yesterday but got off hospital duties late and didn’t have the energy to go. What I should have done, was the 10 minute HIIT session, which I even pulled up on my laptop attached to my TV, but I have yet to actually do it.
I have always believed that once you put that first foot forward, the second one tends to move much easily, and as they both start going, you realize you’ve reached some significant distance. Whenever I stopped working out in the past, for shorter periods than what is currently my soon to be extended hiatus, it was always just actually getting myself into the gym once, and that was it. I am hoping with the first move, I am able to keep this going.

Stigmata – Therese Neumann, Fake or Real?
The stigmata represents the wounds that Christ had on his body after he was crucified, that appears on someone. They include the wounds from the thorns embedded into his head as a crown to mock him, the slashes on his back from when they whipped him, the wounds on his hands from when the nails impaled him, the wounds on his feet for the same reason as for his hands and then final wound that pierced his side by the spare to confirm that he had actually died.
With the stigmata, the person who is inflicted with it is considered to be a virtuous one. As it is believed that the stigmata brings the sufferer closer to Christ. Because of the honor that is associated with the stigmata, it has always peaked my interest in finding out if any of the stories of stigmata, were real or fake. I do not write this post, as a way to disprove the whole miracle that is the stigmata, in of itself, but to provide an article that disprove one of the cases of stigmata.

CGI on Game of Thrones
I am not a game of thrones fan, one bit. I find nothing interesting about it, but it’s probably because dragon fantasy isn’t something that I find interesting; unless it is a talking sadistic dragon like in The Hobbit. But, I always find it interesting how TV series or movies, spice up the surroundings to add to the effect of the scene, that they need. Whether it is adding in people, or buildings, or even mountains (as you will see in this CGI – Game of Thrones video); it is bloody interesting. Kind of like how they show a person who clearly doesn’t have an amputated limb in real life, but they have it on TV; it is bloody interesting!
Also, the amount of CGI that Game Of Thrones have, outside of the obvious; the dragons, it is kind of interesting. Some of the things you would think they wouldn’t have had to CGI, they actually did. I guess it is easier to CGI mountains, than finding somewhere that looks like that and probably cost way less.
If you interested in checking out the 4 minute plus video, which you should be as I have used interesting or interest in some way or form because to be frank, it bloody is interesting, then click Read More.

Becoming me again – Caloric Intake
So one of the biggest part to planning out your fitness journey, is how much you have to put into your body. The biggest essentials, we all know, is protein; especially if building muscle or maintaining muscle mass is the long term goal. But for me, right now it is the caloric intake. Once I can maintain that caloric intake, which will be monitored via using My Fitness Pal, I should steadily reduce my body fat over the next couple of months.
Currently, I am 180 lbs and although I am not as muscular as I was before, I still have my built. To be frank, all I have to do is do cardio and start back lifting weights steadily, incorporating strength training into the mix, and I will be at a suitable built before August. I know I will be seeing changes, in a full months’ time but the major change will come in months.

Becoming me again – 10 minute HIIT
Part of becoming me again, isn’t just about the mental but also the physical. The physical will help me reach the mental as exercise has been known to help reduce stress and anxiety. Medical school is a stressful environment and journey. That is why I have continuously given doctors the props they deserve because the journey to where they are right now, was a hard and long one. One that’s filled with self doubt and a lot of sacrifices. One of the sacrifices I have made for myself, so I can do well during my journey in medical school, is stop working out. I haven’t worked out in months. I have become part of the sedentary community, where my biggest activity is walking from my home to the shopping center, that’s a few blocks away from me. I also feel anxious from doing nothing and can feel as if I ran a mile, after climbing a couple of stairs. This isn’t who I used to be and I am ready to become me again.

Freddy Krueger
I believe I mentioned some time ago that I am an 80s horror movie fanatic. I am not just only into the well known 80s horror movies; Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Krueger), Hellraiser (Pinhead), Child’s Play (Chucky) and Friday the 13th (Jason Voorhees), to name a few, but I am also into Pumpkinhead, Puppet Master, and The Gate.

Michael B. Jordan and The Hot Ones
I just finished looking at this series called The Hot Ones on You Tube, with Michael B. Jordan as the guest; which was extremely hilarious. So basically the gist of the show is to do an interview while basically running through 10 spicy hot wings; the first one being not so bad at all to the last one being basically death in your mouth, with a max of 2,000,000+ on the scoville meter (how spicy something is). The funniest part is how Michael B. Jordan, starts off being able to answer questions with ease and as he continues down the tract of eating the hot wings as they become hotter, his thought process goes from focusing on the interview to wondering wtf is going on in his mouth. He even admits to it some time during the interview, which just makes the whole interview even more hilarious. I definitely had a good laugh from watching this.
