One of the main reasons I decided to do medicine, was so that I could somehow be involved in the treatment, management and care of children who developed different forms of cancers. I wasn’t sure yet if I would have been interested in hematology or other non-blood associated cancers. To be honest, it didn’t matter. I felt as if I wanted to help in whatever way I can. I even thought that maybe research would be a great way to do just that; figure out the perfect treatment for childhood cancers or even find cures for them. At the end of the day, it was the driving force and every time I saw one of those St. Jude’s Pediatric Oncology commercials, the drive grew even more.Read More »
This will be a short post, as it’s just to include what I have done for this week 18. I am taking a break from lifting as I need for my bicep tendon to heal. I will use that time to do my HIIT workouts at home, so I can be doing something at least.
During these workouts I did experience some pain in my bicep tendons, hence the decision for the break.

So, today I did chest and biceps, and at the end of my leg day, I will post my lifts as usual. But recently I have been nursing a distal bicep tendonitis flare up, on my left side. I developed severe distal bicep tendonitis on it, a long time ago and had to stop lifting for weeks or performing any direct bicep workouts, to help it heal. After doing research, I realized it was preacher curls that were the main culprit for the tendonitis and I scratched the exercise from my training and went for high cable upper double bicep curls, instead. This helped to achieve the same effect as I wanted and would have gotten from preach curls, without putting my bicep tendon at risk of “re-inflammation”.
Sadly though, after a long time of not lifting heavy, and focusing on my studies in medical school, I obviously had no issues with bicep tendonitis but that has changed. Unfortunately, since I have started back training with increased intensity, I started incorporating preacher curls in an attempt to get my left bicep peak a little more symmetrical (as much as anatomically possible), to my right side. Even if it was just a slight increase in the peak that’s basically non-existent on my left bicep, it would have been improvement enough for me.Read More »
Came across this scene on You Tube. This movie is absolutely brilliant. Slow paced, but paced enough to keep you interested. Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh, coudn’t have been played by anyone else. As someone said in the comments, the only man with a bowl cut that you’d actually be truly, intimidated by.Read More »
Now before I get into this, I just want to say I am true fan of “The Fast and The Furious” franchise, except for “Tokyo Drift”. The only reason I can appreciate “Tokyo Drift”, without being a fan of it, is because of how they incorporate the ending of “Tokyo Drift”, with part of the 7th installment (Furious 7 – after Han is killed, Dom goes to Tokyo to collect his things and bring him back home for burial). I even have mixed feelings for “2 Fast, 2 Furious”, but it gave us Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej (Ludacris).
Anyways, so as a fan, throughout each installments, I always wondered where Leon was and why he wasn’t part of the “family”. We got a chance to at least see Vince, and his unfortunate demise, in the 5th installment, where they are all in Brazil but we have yet to see Leon. What’s up with that?Read More »
So, with the increase in strength and the reduction in body fat, as previously mentioned, my joints took a hit. Once the body fat reduces, the cushion for the joints also decreases. This caused a little predicament because if I trained with too much intensity, this could just make matters worst or I could adjust the training, and still make progress in the gym; not in strength but in gains.
This gym week, I decided to work more on reps rather than weight. I decided to incorporate other forms of exercises; wide grip bench press, one arm dumbbell overhead press, barbell reverse grip bent over rows, etc. Also, with the increase in strength, but with the reduction in fat, I started putting more strain on my bicep tendon on my left arm, which developed tendonitis years ago. Because tendons don’t heal as well as vascular structures, any strenuous activity over an extended period of time, will irritate the tendon and cause an increase risk of developing a new onset of tendonitis. My irritation is more on the distal (at the elbow), rather than proximal (at the shoulder), when it comes to my bicep tendon on my left arm.Read More »
The dreaded lines that are spoken by someone you’re trying to get to know. Strangely enough, what you’ve been doing for the past weeks or months, is exactly that; dating. Although for most people who are into the dating jargon, it’s more like “talking”. That stage at which two people are getting to know each other, with intent to date long term. But the unfortunate reality about getting to know people, is that you really don’t know what’s going on in their heads outside of those “dates”.
Everything seems fine, and everything seems fun. You both are enjoying each other, and you can feel a connection but then there’s something brewing in the background or in their head, that you’re not able to be privy to, so you believe everything is moving along nicely. Then all of a sudden, you realize that there’s more resistance than before, and there’s maybe a bit of tension in the air. Nothing to cause an argument or disagreement but something to make you go; “Hmmm”.Read More »
So, I just finished watching Netflix original movie called “Extinction”, starring Michael Peña (you may know him from Ant-Man, and the upcoming 4th season of Narcos), Lizzy Caplan (you may know her from Cloverfield, Now You See Me 2) and Mike Colter (you will definitely know him from Luck Cage on Netflix), and wanted to give a brief review.
Unfortunately for anyone who’s logged onto Netflix, they would have seen a preview of “Extinction”, which basically told you a lot about the movie but left a very surprising twist to make up for that “spoiler” that was a very extended and somewhat detailed trailer.Read More »
I used to have a hosting account with Host Gator, for over 7 years; since 23 June 2011. During those 7 years, I never had one issue with them. My sites worked properly without issues and if I had to contact their Live Chat for support, it was in a blue moon (not so often). Unfortunately, that changed quickly starting sometime last week, where I came across an issue and the customer support was horrible.
I was trying to access this website, via its’ url and it gave me a 404 error message and showed the index folders. Now, when something like this happens, the first thing you’re thinking when you have a website, is that all your website content is gone! So I quickly logged into my Cpanel, where I realized my public_html folder, was completely empty. Now just as a quick highlight, public_html is the folder that you want all your folders and files to be, as this is how people are able to view your website via the website url. So if that is empty, then you will get that 404 error message, that I received when I tried to access my websites.Read More »
There is something very stimulating about seeing terriers ratting. If you don’t know what that means, just by what it says, terriers ratting is basically when these dogs go after rats and destroy them. In this video, we have a bunch of dogs helping their owners, destroy a rat infestation that they have come upon. Initially, you think that it’s probably a little weird to be enjoying a video where rats are being killed but then you remember that these farmers are trying to make a living and these rats are getting in the way, so they have no other choice but to use their trusty companions to help them with it.
One thing before you start watching this 10-plus minute video, of dogs chasing after rats and shaking them to death; there’s a black and white dog with BLACK ears, who does something very interesting. He’s the one that doesn’t have the curly hair. He’s the straight hair dog, with the black ears. They’re calling him the real MVP of the ratting dogs. So just pay attention to him and you’d be in for a treat (so to speak :P)Read More »
